We’re now almost two months into 2017, and I’ve just been checking in with my goals for the year to see how I’m getting on. As part of my ongoing health and fitness, I like to keep it varied by trying new things and challenging myself in new ways. One of the things I love about dancing is that it’s a great form of fitness, but it’s so much fun that you don’t realise what a workout you’re getting until later on! Have you set any goals or resolutions for 2017 about getting fitter, learning a new skill, having more fun, or being more sociable? Well it’s not too late to start our beginner modern jive classes and you’ll be winning on all counts!
We do a modern jive 10 week routine, and each week we will concentrate on a different "theme" or skillset. We'll give you some simple tips and tricks to practice at home. Learning these skills will make your dancing look and feel smooth.
During our 10 week sequence, you'll learn the basic moves and techniques for more advanced moves, and get familiar with the footwork and timing. It doesn't matter when in the 10 weeks you start, you'll learn the whole sequence of 20 different moves anyway. We strongly encourage our beginners to commit to coming every week so that you learn 2 new moves and repeat 2 from the previous week. If you're completely new to dancing, that's ok - some of our advanced dancers help out in the beginners class, so you're not left to struggle through on your own.
Paul and I are devoted to teaching good technique so that you will:
- Be able to execute the moves with ease
- Gain confidence quickly
- Be much less likely to injure yourself or your partner, and
- Look awesome on the dance floor!
